Although Kaname doesn't really believe in teasing people in general, because she knows that even simple teasing can hurt the feelings of other people, she has no problem teasing her twin Michiru at all. In fact, she rather enjoys teasing him. Specifically she calls him "onii-chan", even though she knows he's too old to actually be called "-chan" anymore. She finds that by giving him that cuter version of the title she can have her fun with him, as well as simply show her affection. Only when she is very upset with him will she call him Michiru without any suffix at all. Unfortunately for him, she gets angry with him quite frequently. Most commonly when he runs off without her, leaving her behind, or when he thinks she can't take care of herself. Despite how often they fight though, it's obvious that she really does care for her twin, no matter what she may say at any given moment in time -- she just doesn't like to show it in the usual way.
Aaa! A demon!
Despite fighting demons, Kaname still has a somewhat irrational fear of them. There are, in fact, only a few that she isn't afraid of. Inuyasha, Shippo, Myoga, Kouga, Sesshomaru, and Jaken, to be exact. This fear stems from when she first fell through the storehouse floor and was promptly accused of being a demon and attacked. Not to mention she was then almost killed by a demon soon afterward. The demons that she does like though, she trusts inexplicably. During her last trip to the Sengoku period she depended greatly upon Inuyasha and Sesshomaru several times; even more than she depended on her own brother. At one point she even developed a small crush on Sesshomaru, which only increased when she saw exactly what lengths he would go to in order to save Rin-chan. However, she and Michiru left before she had gotten the chance to tell him of her crush, so it remains a secret. Which in a way could be considered a good thing, seeing as how she is fairly certain the lord's reaction would not be a positive one if he found out that a "mere ningen" liked him.
I have to see it to believe it.
Kaname is a bit of a sceptic, and doesn't believe in a lot of things unless she sees them. Despite having grown up at a temple, she didn't even remotely believe in spiritual powers or demons, or any of the legends that her father told her. She thought that they were the same thing as Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny -- myths to tell children in order to get them to behave and to get them to believe that there were magical beings in the world. This aspect of her personality changed somewhat, after learning that demons really did exist. She now knows that just because she doesn't believe that something exists doesn't mean that it never did, or even still does. But at the same time, there are plenty of things that she still doesn't believe in: aliens, crop circles, and vampires, to name just a few. And until she sees proof of any of those things, she will continue to doubt that they exist.
He may be a hentai, but we can't just leave him there...
Kaname will do anything to help her friends when they really need it. Or if they even only need a little help. Even when she knows she may not succeed, either in a fight, or something as simple as cooking in the kitchen, she will always try her best to succeed. Or if not to succeed, at least to be able to help a little. Even at points when she wonders whether or not the person really deserves help, in the end she will decide that because they are a friend, they deserve it. Even if they are a jerk, or a hentai, or if they are nothing more than cold to her. On the first trip to the Sengoku period she spent many of her days off, which Michiru had agreed to when they should have been doing something more important, with Kagome-chan and Sango-chan, becoming closer to the two girls. She was happy to help them with anything she could, most specifically with Sango's training or by helping Kagome prepare meals for everyone. During this time she did learn a lot about cooking, or at least enough so that she could prepare basic meals on her own, and she even learned how to handle a katana (not that she used one ever outside of practice).

[/i] inseparable sometimes. For instance, he kept showing up whenever she was trying to talk privately with her friends about something that she would never in a million years want her brother to know. At least she knew she could get rid of him with a few choice words (usually involving something incredibly feminine).
Growing up at a temple had been a relatively uneventful experience for Kaname. She grew up with her twin, attending school just like any other girl, and then going home to help her parents out with the chores before doing her homework. The most she ever had to help though was once a year at the doll festival that the shrine hosted. She never fully understood the point of the festival, since it seemed to her to be nothing more than a poor imitation of new years or Christmas, when people did the exact same thing: made wishes on objects. Well, at least at the festival the wishes were made on dolls and not on pieces of paper that were then tied to a tree. And she did accept that, for whatever reason, it was an important tradition that had to be maintained, no matter how pointless it may or may not have been.
When she and her twin were seventeen, during their third year of high school, something strange happened during the annual doll festival. After getting off the bus they were ordered to go find more talismans and charms and bring them to their parents from the storehouse. Unfortunately, while looking for the box Kaname managed to trip and fall. All of a sudden the floor began to glow, and the next thing the twins knew it vanished right out from under them and they were falling! When Kaname woke up she knew they were definitely not in Kansas anymore, so to speak. For one thing, they were outside! For another, her cellphone no longer worked. And that didn't bode well at all. She and Michiru decided that they should try and find their way back to the house, but instead found even more trouble. A group of strange people dressed in kimonos and samue. She tried to call out to them, wanting them to help, but instead the people noticed them first. Only... for some reason the twins were mistaken for demons and attacked. Unbelievably confused, Kaname and Michiru ran away, only to end up being attacked by a real demon. How, she wasn't sure. After all, demons were supposedly just things from myth, weren't they? At least that was what she had always believed.
Somehow the twins managed to survive, with the help of a strange red light that seemed to come right from the two of them. The next thing that Kaname knew she was being woken up, rather rudely, by a silver haired boy with dog ears. But dog ears? Really, wasn't this dream far fetched enough as it was? The teen introduced himself as Inuyasha, and told them that their clothes looked similar to those of a friend of his. He then took them to a nearby village where they met Higurashi Kagome. Kaname was so relieved to see another normal person that she started asking the other girl lots of questions, slightly panicked. Kagome simply answered the best she could, while nodding sympathetically. She explained that somehow they had come to the Feudal Era, the same place that they studied about in school. Youkai roamed free through this era, and it was dangerous to walk around without either special powers or a weapon. Kagome then proceeded to explain about the quest that she, Inuyasha, and the rest of their friends were on to complete the Shikon no Tama.
After meeting Kaede-obasan and Shippo-chan, Kagome-chan and Inuyasha-san took the twins to an old well located just beyond the village. Kagome told them to try jumping down into it, since doing so allowed her to return to the Present. However, when Inuyasha pushed Kaname into the well, nothing happened. Well, nothing more than a headache anyway. So, not knowing what else to do, Kaname and Michiru joined Inuyasha and Kagome's group to help them find the shards. And hopefully, to help them find a way home. Days turned into weeks, and many adventures happened. The twins met many new friends, and also many new enemies. They also met a kind old man named Kakaju that taught them how to use Shikigami to defend themselves. More time passed, and eventually they learned that a woman named Utsugi brought them to the Sengoku period. Even stranger, Utsugi looked just like Kaname.
Eventually it was time for the final battle against Naraku, which both Michiru and Kaname participated in after learning all that they could about Shikigami. Joining them and the Inutachi was Sesshomaru-sama, Inuyasha's older brother. Somehow they managed to defeat the evil hanyou. With his death also came the end of the purpose the twins were brought to the Sengoku period to fulfill, so it was time for them to return home. After saying their goodbyes Kaname and her brother returned to the Present and their normal lives. Oddly, despite how much time they had spent in the Feudal Era, no more than a few moments had passed in their own time. As the doll festival came to an end, Kaname couldn't help but wonder if they would ever get to see their friends again.
After finishing high school, Kaname went on to university and became a history major. Now a second year student at K University, she has plans on becoming a high school teacher when she graduates. She still hopes that one day she and Michiru will get to go back to the Sengoku era, though she knows that it may never actually happen. At least she got to see Kagome again once or twice by sheer coincidence. And unfortunately she also learned that Naraku wasn't quite as dead as everyone had thought. He was back, with just as many creepy incarnations as before. Only this time there was nothing that she could do to help. Or so she believed, anyway.
